Biography

Dr. Elaine Biddiss is a senior scientist at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and an Associate Professor with the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. Dr. Biddiss leads PEARL (Possibility Engineering and Research Lab) which focuses on innovating technologies to support children of all abilities in health and well-being. Some of PEARL's innovations include Bootle Blast - a movement tracking video game that makes motor therapies fun; ScreenPlay - an inclusive, fun and anxiety-reducing waiting space for healthcare settings; and Bootle Band - a mixed reality music app that children play with real-life musical instruments. Dr. Biddiss works closely with Dr. Darcy Fehlings and the CP-NET team in the development and evaluation of games and apps for children with cerebral palsy and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
