Dr. Noha Gomaa

Dr. Noha Gomaa is a dentist and population health scientist. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Schulich School of Dentistry, Western University and an Associate Scientist at the Children's Health Research Institute, London, Ontario. As a clinician-scientist, her research explores the epigenetic impact of social and psychosocial stress on health outcomes, with a special focus on early-life adversity. Noha completed her PhD at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto, as well as a CIHR Strategic Training in Public Health Policy at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She then joined the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto for a two-year clinician-scientist research fellowship with Dr. Steven P. Miller in which she studied the epigenetic impact of early-life social adversity on neurodevelopmental outcomes. In translating science to policy, Noha has worked with provincial and federal policymakers on a number of projects to advise on evidence-informed programs for the delivery of uninsured health services to children from low-income families and other marginalized populations. She is an active member of the International Association for Dental Research, the Canadian Association for Public Health Dentistry and an affiliate of the Social Exposome Research Cluster at the University of British Columbia.
